The Technology Challenge for Families of Faith

It began in the early 1980s when my father brought home his first Apple computer. I remember how smooth the keyboard felt under my fingers and the rhythmic hum of the tractor-feed printer. But before long, I realized something unsettling—this machine was stealing away precious moments of connection with my dearly loved Dad.

Like the ancient Israelites who were commanded to honor relationships above possessions, our family faced that first digital wilderness—a test of whether we would master this new tool as faithful stewards or allow it to master us, pulling us away from the covenant of presence that God designed families to cherish.

Over the years, I’ve witnessed how our relationship with technology has evolved. What begins as “just a minute” often dissolves into lost hours. The challenges run deeper than just lost time, opening doors to content that can damage spiritual health.

Finding Biblical Guidance in the Digital Age

How can Christian parents navigate technology without letting it master our families?

That’s why I created The Digital Pilgrim’s Compass—a biblical technology guide designed to help parents examine both their children’s heart motives and their own, using Scripture-based wisdom.

How We’re Different

This is the Christian framework for AI discipleship and digital wisdom. It doesn’t just explain AI’s impact on faith—it defines how the Church responds and creates a repeatable system for Christian families, leaders, and educators. When you get in on the ground floor, you become an active participant in shaping a biblical response to AI.

It solves the biggest challenge facing the Church today: Who disciples us more—God or algorithms? My mission is to prevent AI from discipling the next generation and instead equip believers to master digital tools for God’s purposes with their own individuality and giftings.

No one else is doing this work at the same level:

  1. There are Christian voices on digital ethics, but none have built a full AI discipleship framework that applies directly to families, churches, and developers.
  2. Secular AI thinkers dominate the AI conversation, but no Christian thought leader has defined a biblical AI response that is both practical and strategic.
  3. This work is both deeply theological and highly actionable. Most Christian tech resources offer either shallow surface-level tips or overly academic theology. The Digital Pilgrim’s Compass bridges both worlds.

How It Works: AI-Powered Biblical Discernment

The Digital Pilgrim’s Compass uses a simple chat interface where you ask questions about technology and receive guidance based on the following:

A Biblical Framework for Technology Decisions

This assistant helps Christian families evaluate technology through a three-part biblical lens:

  • Creation – Does this align with God’s design for human flourishing?
  • Formation – How is it shaping spiritual life and relationships?
  • Mission – Are we using tools to serve God’s Kingdom?

The Principle Approach Method

America’s historic method of reasoning from the Scriptures applies biblical principles to every area of life, including our digital world.

Practical Solutions for Real Families

This isn’t theoretical—it’s about specific, actionable advice that Christian parents can apply immediately to technology challenges.

Real Questions, Biblical Answers

This morning, I asked the Digital Pilgrim’s Compass two questions I woke up with:

“Is TikTok okay for me to use?”

The response: “TikTok can be a creative and entertaining platform, but it also exposes users to harmful content, addictive scrolling, and secular influences that can shape identity and values in unbiblical ways. Christians must approach it with discernment, wisdom, and self-control.”

“Is TikTok okay for me to post Christian content on?”

The response: “Yes, TikTok can be a platform for sharing Christian content and spreading the Gospel. However, it requires wisdom, discernment, and intentionality to ensure that your message remains Christ-centered and is not diluted or influenced by the platform’s trends and algorithms.”

Rather than simple yes/no answers, the Digital Pilgrim’s Compass provides balanced, Scripture-informed guidance that acknowledges both opportunities and challenges—exactly the nuanced wisdom Christian families need.

What Families Are Saying

“My wife was searching her Bible to understand what it says about Artificial Intelligence. The Digital Pilgrim’s Compass made the task quick and effective. So far, we’ve found it consistently biblical in its guidance.” – Pedro Q, father of three.

See It In Action

When asked: “Help! Technology is taking away family time. What should I do?” The Digital Pilgrim’s Compass provided five suggestions:

Practical Steps for Christian Parents:

  1. Set Tech-Free Zones – Designate meals, devotionals, and bedtime as screen-free times
  2. Sabbath from Screens – Take a weekly digital break for faith and relationships
  3. Use Tech with Purpose – Replace passive scrolling with faith-building activities
  4. Model Healthy Habits – Demonstrate the tech boundaries you want children to adopt
  5. Prioritize Face-to-Face Time – Engage in real conversations and shared experiences
