One little memory can become a family treasure

Whenever I see a lighthouse, I think of my mother. She wanted us to learn Morse code together. We never did, but her wish stayed with me.

The Oregon Light grew from that memory. Not because lighthouses send Morse code (their distinctive flashes are different), but because a small signal can bring someone we love to mind.

What memory would you like your grandchild to carry? And what might you learn about their world if you invited them to write back?

A letter there. A letter back.

1 · Write your story

Write a real memory in your larger illustrated card. Just a few honest lines are enough.

2 · Invite theirs

Send the smaller card and writing invitation. Your grandchild can write or draw something from life today.

3 · Keep both

Save your grandchild’s reply, and let them keep yours. Names, dates, and handwriting make the exchange a family record.

What comes in the set

A thoughtfully prepared exchange with the physical correspondence at its heart.

  • A larger, illustrated card for the grandparent
  • A smaller illustrated reply card for the child, blank inside
  • A little story invitation insert for the child
  • Correspondence envelopes
  • Specialty-paper gift tag and decorative wax seal (confirm these finishing items before publishing)
  • A QR code on the larger card that opens the illustrated online experience

Look again. Five discoveries are waiting.

In the original Oregon Light watercolor, look for a lighthouse, a glowing keeper’s cottage, the moonlit sea, two pinecones, and a white dogwood flower.

Scan the card’s QR code to open The Oregon Light Experience, a seven-screen interactive storybook with behind-the-art discoveries, a one-word blessing, a family light-signaling activity, and a tradition to keep.

The storybook adds delight. Your two handwritten stories remain the keepsake.

A little light to share

Try making a simple flashing pattern with a flashlight, or invent a family “light signature” that you recognize together.

You can use a flashlight you already own. An optional signaling flashlight is suggested in the storybook; it is not included in this correspondence set.

Someday, they may find your handwriting again.

And you may rediscover their small handwriting, too. You need not write a book to pass on a story. Start with a card.
